Mariners Lose to Rangers, 8-4
|
Joc Pederson made an impact in the 8-4 Texas win over Seattle. Pederson, who is tied for 9th in the AL in home runs with 42, went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Trevor Hildenberger snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 1-0 on the season. The Rangers, at 105-57, have a comfortable 21-game lead in their division.
The Rangers got a lift from shortstop Andrelton Simmons, who in the bottom of the first stroked a first pitch changeup into left for a run-scoring single. It was his 163rd hit of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 3-1.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Pederson told the Texas Chronicle.
