Trevor Richards never let Tampa Bay get something going. The New York right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Yankees to a 2-1 win. New York raised its record to 85-76 with the win.

Odubel Herrera was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Yankees center fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

Herrera called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
