Freeman Hits 2 home runs in Braves Win
|
The first-place Atlanta Braves took on the Washington Nationals in front of a spirited crowd.
The Atlanta Braves bested the Washington Nationals by a score of 16-6, with first baseman Freddie Freeman getting the main credit. On the day, Freeman slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 6 for the Braves. Luke Jackson, now 7-7, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0.
Freeman had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Steve Hathaway, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Braves a 6-4 lead. It was the 23rd home run of the year for Freeman.
"Winning is contagious," said Freeman. "We're looking forward to the next game."
