Minute Maid Park was the site for American League action featuring the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers.

Texas starter Jon Lester put a stranglehold on the Houston offense. The left-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Rangers to a 5-1 win. The Rangers lead the American League West Division by 14½ games.

Tommy La Stella could have done more damage. In the bottom of the ninth, with Houston trailing 5-0, Houston had runners on 2nd and 3rd. That's when La Stella hit a sacrifice fly. But it was not enough. Texas would go on to win the game.
