Pittsburgh got a first-rate effort from pitcher Patrick Corbin, who frustrated Miami hitters en route to a 3-1 Pirates triumph at PNC Park. Corbin picked up the win for Pittsburgh, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 10-4. Pittsburgh has now won 3 in a row.
The Pirates got an important contribution from shortstop Didi Gregorius, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 1-2 splitter into left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 29th home run of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 2-0.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Corbin told the Pittsburgh Daily.
