Flowers Slugs Cubs to 7-4 Win
|
Behind a fine performance from Tyler Flowers, the Chicago Cubs knocked off the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-4. Flowers was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Cubs. Chicago reliever Joe Kuzia was the winner. His record is now 3-1. Johnny Cueto took the loss. Nick Burdi earned his 31st save in 33 chances.
Flowers contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Chicago in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Flowers took a fastball from Johnny Cueto and stroked the home run to left. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Cubs to leap in front, 5-3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Flowers told the Chicago Citizen.
The Cubs saw their record improve to 60-65.
