|
New York starter Luis Severino had a strong outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Severino, now 10-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. The Mets move to 54-64 with the win, while the Dodgers drop to 50-70.
It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Nick Ahmed, the 30-year old shortstop . Ahmed contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put New York up, 4-3.
In postgame comments to the New York Herald, Ahmed said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
