Encarnacion Fuels 4-3 Minnesota Triumph

The Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals, 4-3, at Kauffman Stadium. The win was due in part to first baseman Edwin Encarnacion, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Reliever Trey Wingenter picked up the win. His record improves to 2-3. Cristian Javier took the loss. Tommy Kahnle was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 7 save opportunities.
Encarnacion contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Minnesota in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-1, Encarnacion took a fastball from Cristian Javier and stroked the home run to left-center. His 21st home run of the season allowed the Twins to leap in front, 4-3.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Encarnacion.
With this game in the books, Minnesota is 53-67, Kansas City 66-52.
