The Tampa Bay Rays grabbed a win, 12-0, over the Boston Red Sox at Tropicana Field. Tampa Bay designated hitter Miguel Sano belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Michael Fulmer notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. His record now sits at 7-11. With the victory, the Rays upped their record to 60-56.
Starlin Castro dealt the Red Sox a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Tampa Bay leading 1-0, Castro, who finished 2nd in the NL in hits with 203 in 2018, hit a 3-1 slider for a 2-run single.
Rays manager TJ Barnaba had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
