A good performance from center fielder Starling Marte helped the Detroit Tigers defeat the San Francisco Giants, 5-4. Marte went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Tigers. Detroit pitcher Pedro Baez got the win. He's now 5-3. Kazuhisa Makita was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Tigers upped their record to 66-49.

The clutch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth belonged to Marte. Facing Kazuhisa Makita with the bases loaded, the Detroit center fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Game over, walk-off style!

"This wasn't a good win," said Marte. "It was a great win."
