Blue Jays Collect 14-12 Win Over Mariners
|
The Toronto Blue Jays had to overcome a big game from Seattle catcher Willians Astudillo to leave Safeco Field with a victory. And they did, winning 14-12. Astudillo was 4 for 6 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The Blue Jays now have a record of 47-57.
Toronto needed the clutch hitting of Robinson Chirinos to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 14-12. For the game, Chirinos had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Seattle manager Jeff Clement. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
