Big Day for Soto as Cardinals Down Cubs, 8-4
|
Juan Soto made an impact in the 8-4 St. Louis win over Chicago. Soto, who leads the NL with a .458 on-base percentage, was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Chris Bassitt picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 9. On the season, he is now 11-4. The Cardinals, at 67-37, have now won 4 straight.
St. Louis took a 8-2 lead on Soto's 40th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Zack Greinke in the bottom of the sixth, propelled St. Louis to the win.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said St. Louis manager Tyler Wagner.
