Texas starter Alex Wood had a strong outing against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-1 win. Texas reliever Andrew Chafin was the winner. His record is now 3-2. Kwang-hyun Kim took the loss. Diego Castillo converted his 10th save in 10 tries.

Texas used a clutch hit from Andrelton Simmons to get the win. The shortstop drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

Simmons told a Texas Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

Texas raised its record to 65-32 with the win.
