Cardinals Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Brewers, 4-3
|
The inspired effort of Milwaukee left fielder Tommy Pham was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-3, to the St. Louis Cardinals. Pham went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. St. Louis pitcher Dellin Betances got the win. He's now 2-1. Mark Melancon was tagged with the loss. The victory gives the Cardinals a record of 56-34.
Juan Soto was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals left fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said St. Louis manager Tyler Wagner. "It's usually not just one thing."
