The Tampa Bay Rays topped the New York Yankees, 9-6, in American League action at Yankee Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Tampa Bay first baseman Isan Diaz. Ken Giles was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 17 save opportunities. At 29-36, the Rays are currently third in the American League East Division.

It could have been a different outcome for Tampa Bay, had it not been for Mike Yastrzemski, the 29-year old left fielder . Yastrzemski contributed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put Tampa Bay up, 6-3.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Tampa Bay manager TJ Barnaba.
