Diamondbacks Win at New York, 5-1
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks faced a tough opponent in New York pitcher Joey Lucchesi, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Citi Field by a final score of 5-1. Lucchesi went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner in relief was J.B. Wendelken. He is now 1-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Blake Treinen got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Francisco Mejia had a productive at-bat for the Diamondbacks with two out in the top of the seventh. With a runner on 2nd, the catcher hit a run-scoring double. The at-bat was important in the Arizona win.
Mejia attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
The National League West Division-leading Diamondbacks are 31-18.
